Review of Rio Vista, California

What you can and can not find in Rio Vista
Star Rating - 4/3/2011
There is plenty to be had in Rio Vista, particularly if you like dead animal heads on a bar wall (Fosters Big Horn) and a state of the art fish cleaning station located near city hall and the boat launch.

Neither of those accoutrements speaks to me. It becomes necessary to leave town for nearly everything I do and every job I currently hold. I am a tap dancer and I have pursued dance classes in different towns (Rio Vista offers no dance classes) while I also teach dance out of town (there's a reason for why I don't teach in town -- but that's another story). I spend quite a bit on gas and the bridge toll fees required of me as I commute to pursue jobs and recreation not afforded me in Rio Vista. But that's not a complaint, rather it's the trade-off I make for being where the opportunities are. For me to maintain balance while living in Rio Vista it becomes a necessity, not an option, to venture out of the city limits. I think small towns like Rio Vista are defined by their limitations.

Well, since you are, by your own admission, rather "light on your feet," you may want to relocate about 60 or so miles to the southwest. Much more accepting environment for your talents. Cheers.

Hi, your review here is almost 4 years old. I just retired. I'm considering purchasing a home in Rio Vista. Have you moved from Rio Vista? If not would you please let me know how things have changed since 2011? Is crime going up? Does the neighborhood seem to be getting better or worse. I moved to Pittsburg from a crappy town in So. Cal. I love the climate here but the people that live in Pittsburg don't seem to appreciate how pretty it is. There is litter everywhere I go. I live in a mobile home park and although this place is clean and beautiful, we have had nighttime car break-ins and multiple mailbox thefts. Thank you in advance for your input regarding Rio Vista. Kindly, Reen
